    Consolidated Security Thread (legacy)

Anyone mentioned the VMWare Player and browser? If you have some spare ram give this a try out. You can also use it to play other virtual machines, so you can run linux while running windows or vice versa.

Best way to make sure all information is safe when bringing computer in for repairs

Call Gary Glitter. He was great at hiding his data :) He had so much child porn on that box that a 6 year old probably crawled out of the case when they opened it up.

2 software engineer openings where I work

Would be if I worked in the city, but I live south in Fredericksburg. No traffic = much easiar day. I'll take the slight pay cut for not working in the city :)

http://www.epic.org/privacy/surveillance/spotlight/0306/ http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/04/07/1942259&from=rss Wow. All I can say is ridiculous. Take the time and write your representatives a short letter regarding your feelings about this article...

    Open Source Project?

I'm currently looking for a project to work on in my spare time. Anyone working on an open source project that they would like some help on? Or any ideas on a task that could use some development help? I have really enjoyed working on the linux operating system in the past year, and would...

Most embarrasing thing you should have known....

Your right. Having one in your mouth is the problem. And OP you have never looked at p0rn. I've never really seen an uncircumsized guy in one of those.

2 software engineer openings where I work

I wasn't going to snitch :) Going through HR often times makes it harder to get a job in many companies. Why do you think most reqs are posted internally? Had I stayed in that area I would have likely applied for an entry position (I was a CSCI major in school). Instead I moved to...

2 software engineer openings where I work

For anyone that doesn't know, that area is extremely cheap to live in. I just finished my undergrad at ETSU. Housing is very cheap, land is cheap, and those clearances are worth a fair share. Good luck hiring. PS. I know who you work for :)

    Recommended operating systems textbook?

In my good old undergrad days we used the Silberschatz book. I recently picked this up: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/067232...542?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=283155 Linux Kernel Development. I have only made it through a couple of chapters, but I thought it would be an excellent...

did your college major help you get your current job?

Can't forget Raytheon. Hadn't seen it mentioned before you had mentioned it. If these companies come to your school take a resume and drop it off to them. I guess you have been out for a couple of years if you are at level 2 now.

did your college major help you get your current job?

I work for Northrop doing software work, just got hired over the summer. I'd say either of these companies would be quite fun to work for anyone in the computer industry.

    DFI LanParty DR Power issues

tw33ter thanks for those links, but that was not the issue. The issue came about anytime I connected more than 1 molex connector other than the connectors that went to the motherboard. The thing to take from my link is the jumper settings for J17. I never would have figured that out on my...

    DFI LanParty DR Power issues

I just finished the most irritating build of my life. This thing took 3 days to get up and running. (I work, so it wasn't a full 3 days :) ) Anyhow, I hope no one else has had the same trouble I had with the DFI board and power issues. If so I found a very useful post on another board...

    Dvorak Users

I have found that the best for me so far is to instant message, as I feel I have to respond quickly. I still have my qwerty keyboard hooked up as well, so that will hinder my learning curve.
