I am using the Realtek ALC 850 chipset that is built on to my Asus 8NE-SLI motherboard. I am also using the most current set of drivers that are windows certified.

Volume controls are fine - nothing is muted and all the volumes are high. Its really strange that it plays the windows startup wav file - then after that nothing. Windows media player doesn't have any sound, no default windows sounds, nothing. Dan
