A few comments on the new wiring harness:
The new harness was not an absolute necessity, but it was something that I wanted to do at this point given how much time I was having to spend fixing the existing harness. The existing harness had been chopped up in at least a dozen places (dash and...
Work has been progressing slowly:
* Replaced shocks
* Fixed several leaks
* Pulled and rebuilt steering column
At the moment I am working on rewiring the entire car using a new wiring harness from AAW. While I have it out, I am debating swapping out my dash and gauges for SS-style digital...
Just be prepared for many calls the first day that you post it, most from scammers and idiots. I sold one last year and many of the calls were people wanting to take over payments, sell me services, etc. Just be prepared for it.
My primary vehicle has been a truck for the past 10 years, so I am used to manual headlights. That said, the somewhat hidden (below and to the left of the steering wheel) location of the switch and lack of a dash indicator is somewhat odd. Most of the newer cars I have driven have a similar...
There are a lot of really odd compromises that manufacturers make on the lower end cars. I picked up a 2013 Fiesta and realized that none of the following are even available options:
-Automatic headlights
-Push button start
-Rear camera (or any parking assist)
The plugs were ~$4.
In that case, the shop marked up all prices by 120% over NAPA retail. So yeah, the tune up was a bit ridiculous. I never went back there again, but based on what coworkers said, they used a similar markup for all other work.
I can't say I have a problem with this.
I would not object to the courts being able to restrict a felon's access to firearms for a limited period after release on a case by case bases when convicted of specific crimes. In my mind, saying that every felon should be permanently barred from...
I have seen that a few times at shops and I quickly go elsewhere. One shop I used ONCE charged $9.50/sparkplug. No normal shop will require that kind of markup. Sure, that may charge you 25% over list price, but you assume that they are getting it at >10% below and it is a healthy price all around.
Also consider getting into reloading. The supplies for it are a little easier to find and order and your supply is a better assured. IMO, the only real downsides are the space needed (you need a dedicated workbench) and the high equipment cost (~$800-2000 depending on what you get).
Ex...
Good luck with that. The US government continues to slash the budgets of the agencies that preserve information (national archives, library of congress, etc.). They are largely unable to keep up with preserving the amount of traditionally published, printed materials. Anything more than pilot...
It is possible, how you still have many of the same problems:
1. Will the updates that IA runs over the next 500 years allow all the content to be viewed in 500 years? The answer to that is no. About all we can really hope for is that the text will be preserved with minimal formatting.
2. Will...
Short answer? no.
There are a number of issues with converting legacy data (one part of my job):
1. Getting it off the hardware it is on - For example, I can get data off a zip disc with a simple USB zip drive. If I want to get data off a jaz drive I need a desktop with a scsi card.
2. Figuring...
