Need suggestions for stable Socket-A mainboard & processor

I need a good combination of processoer and Socket-A motherboard to use in upgrading an older PC. Stability is desired above overclocking. It currently runs a Pentium II 400 w/128MB RAM and 16MB TNT2 video card. My only real concern with the old rig is it's 250W power supply since I'll be...

Help with AOpen AX6B processor / video upgrade.

Thanks for the tips. I'm definitely going the sloket/FC-PGA route. Now I've just got to find a bargain on the vid. card.

AOpen AX6B upgrade (I apologize for the cross-post. Wasn't sure where to put it.)

I'm in the process of upgrading an original AOpen AX6B (no C, no Gold, etc.) and assorted hardware for my daughter. She's not a heavy 3D gamer, but does play occaisionally. Most of her use is school-related research, term papers and an every once-in-a-while graphics project. It's to the point...

    Leadtek Winfast DDR drivers

I'm using a Leadtek Winfast DDR, Rev.B. I've tried all available drivers from Leadtek and Nvidia up through the Detonator 3 6.27. My best overall performance happens when using the Leadtek driver build 110, which is based on the Nvidia 3.72. This seems odd since most everyone is getting better...

    Help with Antex SX1030

Now that I've had it a while, I've got to say that it's one sweet case! With the exception of the "cheesiest" I/O panel on earth. I can't understand how Antec can put together such a nice all-around case and then put in such a sub-standard I/O panel. Oh, well. Knowing what I know...

    Help! MSI-6309 BIOS flash failure

I tried to flash the BIOS to ver. 1.5. The progress bar filled in completely, but I rec'd the message "BIOS flash failed" or something like that. The fans power on and that's about it. No video sync, no attempt to access the floppy, no hard disk activity. I've tried the recovery...

    Golden Orb and MSI-6309

Is anyone using this combo? Just from "eyeballing" the pics, the fit looks a little tight around the capacitors. I know there are better performing heatsinks available, but the Orb seems to offer "good bang for the buck." Opinions please!

    Help with Antex SX1030

I just rec'd an SX1030 without a manual. I can't figure out the drive rails. I'm trying to use them to install a CD-ROM drive. How should they be mounted on the drive? Should the metal end face the front or rear of the drive? Once the rails are mounted, should the drive be inserted from the...
