    Question MSI G241 MONITOR HELP

i suspect it's not "ghosting" in the real sense. and "tearing" isn't an issue compared to the choppy/stuttering video playback of a broken windows/drivers/codecs setup edit: of course something could be throttling or glitching because of his OCs, or something else as simple as a crappy cable...

    Question MSI G241 MONITOR HELP

I sympathise; it sucks when stuff doesn't work but you don't need to start a new thread edit: oh my bad, it's a different monitor... with the exact same problem as your previous monitor? And you're blaming the new monitor?

    Question weird lag in videos

reinstall video codecs? edit: I haven't used windows in ages, but I'd guess a software problem. first thing i'd do install a fresh copy of vlc and see if it plays a local video. If not installing a fresh copy of windows and starting again (or did I miss that part you already did that?)

Question Feedback on (Linux) PC build for image processing / gaming

AFAIK B550 is "close" to being a rebadged B45, so support should be fine. But even if not I thought we were past the days when we worried if major parts were supported in Linux..

    Question 4K monitor for causal gaming//watching movie/anime: 27" IPS or 31.5" VA?

That isn't a choice of VA vs IPS. The 27" monitor is simply too high PPI. I mean... of course you could use the 27" 4k monitor and use some hacks to make text OK (if possible). And since the PPI is much higher than necessary for gaming it will run correspondingly slower in games. So for the 27"...

Question Is 10GB of Vram enough for 4K gaming for the next 3 years?

Bold added by me. It wouldn't be a "good" game if it tanked with this amount of RAM. A "good" game wouldn't tank. A "popular" game may tank, but the blame lies in software and not with the normal available hardware's limitations. As we have seen many times in the past.

What is going on? Im reading WAY too many people with idle freeze problems with 1st gen Ryzens

Official site says "System Memory Specification Up to 3200MHz" edit: woops copypasta & numerous edits but you get the point I hope. Another case of jumping on the bandwagon to blame someone else. Nobody likes to admit it's their own fault.

Question Replacing traditional 2.0 speakers with a single omnidirectional?

Seems you've made up your mind about what you want, I'm sure you have your views for a reason. As do other people. Many here would find off-centred audio unacceptable for anything apart from ambient music. But with regards to a wireless solution I did recommend waiting until Bluetooth 5.2...

Question Is 10GB of Vram enough for 4K gaming for the next 3 years?

It's chicken and egg situation with game settings and hardware requirements. Dev's could design a game which runs at 3fps on the best GPU and/or needs terabytes of memory. Following on, for the next 3-5 years, some settings on some games are going to be "using" more than 10GB vRAM simply...

Question Looking to upgrade my Logitech G700s mouse to the Razer Basilisk wireless is it worth it?

I finally went wireless for my mouse with a new logitech G604. I was a cable hold-out for ages because of twitch gaming and premium prices for good wireless options. The G604 has dual mode wireless (BT and proprietary low latency/higher power modes) which I wanted. And it's been bashed for...

News US Aims to Bring Chip Manufacturing Industry Back to Its Soil

True. Academic excellence these days has been turned into a disgusting pursuit of grants and citations. Actual leadership in the long term requires much more than this.

Anything I can do to speed up this old laptop?

Linux? Even though Ubuntu is considered "bloated" by some of the more nerdcore persuasion, it's still pretty lightweight compared to windows. And the latest Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Long Term Support) is damn polished and newb friendly. Easily capable of general office duties and everyday interwebbing.
