I have not heard of any major complaints/problems with the earlier golfs (mid 90's). I have a new jetta TDI and am hoping that it is as reliable as reported. The TDI club website is frequently down. Don't give up on it. I have visited there recently myself.

I have installed XP as an update to Windows 98. What is the proceedure for uninstalling XP? Someone told me to go into add/remove programs and activate the uninstall XP. However, I am uncertain as to whether this actually initiates the uninstall procedure or removes the potential to unistall...

Just another tidbit. I tried to run TDK's firmware upgrade that actually came with the unit when I got it. Lo and behold it doesn't recognize the drive.:(

Basie Thanks for the reply, but its easy for you to say:) What exactly is the procedure for removing the upper and lower filters? Also, I noticed that device manager now recognizes my CDRW as "TDK CDRW121032 SCSI CdRom Device". I do not know if this differs with what it recognized it as...

I just downloaded InCD 3.2 (I believe) from Nero. Previsouly, following an upgrade to Windows 2000 I could not load InCd as it was not compatible with 2000. 3.2 apparently is. Anyway-once I installed 3.2 I lost both my CDROM and CDRW drives. Device Mgr. shows the dreaded yellow exclamation...

I too like the 830 and have used it on several projects. I found myself in need of another yesterday and made a trip to my local Fry's who happend to be out of the 830. As an alternative I purchased a Mid-Tower "David's Own" for $59. The case includes two case fans, an AMD, P3, P4 approved...

I have no experience with W2K. In order to have the drive even seen I believe it has to be formatted prior to installing xp. My question is, unless I'm completely ignorant, is there a one step process to format and designate NTFS?

I am in the process of formatting a new hard drive for installation of xp. I would like to set up the drive under NTFS, but I am not entirely sure of the process. Do I first format the drive as a FAT 32 drive and then in the installation of xp select NTFS? Or, is there a one step process...

dbz-what do you mean if your not concerned with overclocking that much. I have had very good luck with this board and that chip in overclocking, unless you feel 40% is not much.
