Honestly I can say that the Compaq's themselves are a serious problem. If you still have the chance return it if possible. Second, try doing a clean install w/ WinXP or even Win98se. WinME is one of those things that got made then everyone stepped back and asked why they did it.....

Just to mention Cool Edit Pro is a great proggie to use for the recording of any standalone console such as cassettes and minidisc's. It takes up almost no space and very minimal resources with more then enough editing options.

anyone know where to locate drivers from recovery disks if one has lost the disks themselves. Just want to get the soundcard working, but all i can find is WinME drivers and no win98se which is what i need
