got it fixed ,,,,I guess with @home users you have to change your mail server name in netscape properties from Home to your ip mail server address,,,,,

I just hooked up the SMC 4-Port 10/100Mbps Broadband router to mine and my daughters machine,,, Everything went smooth got both our computers hooked up to my @home cable net,,,,but when I did the winipcfg and released and renewed all,,,somehow I cannot retrieve my @home mail in my netscape...

since I got my networking working great now after a few days of that netbeui nightmare. I am ready to go cable router shopping :) I have the netgear starter kit on my pc,,which was pretty cheap after pricematching staples and getting it for around 35 bucks,,I thought it was worth it for the two...

I wanted to thank you all for your input and help!!!:) I tried one more time and took out the nic cards and put the pc into safe mode and removed all network protocols and removed nics from device manager,,,and somehow I ended up screwing up my windows set up,,So,,I ended up reinstalling windows...

ok,,I broke open the pc,,tore out the cable nic and the netgear nic,,tried to remove all of the protocols,,,,then it asks for the windows 98 cd again,,I direct it to the options/cabs,,,it loads up what it needs then asks for a reboot,,,goes right back into the blue screen error,,again,,, reboot...

not running any cable sharing of any kind yet,,,this is my first network attempt,,And the the shutting down errors are annoying enough to go any further with cable sharing,,that was my plan however to put in a cable router after networking was successfully accomplished

I am on cable modem too,,so I have two nics,,,,do I need to take out the nic for the cable modem too? And install both back in? Thank you all for your help!

I did remove the netbuei driver from the control panel and when it asked me to reboot for the changes,,blue screen error again,,and when I I put the driver back in ,,same thing again,, everytime I go into the network settings and look at anything in there it keeps asking me for the windows 98...
