how do i check the binding?

i can ping myself.. just not the other computer

i just bought the cable... and when i plug it in to both computers the green light comes on.. and only when i plug both computers in.. could it still be the cable?

for PPP adapter adapter addy is 44-45-53-54-00-00, IP addy is 63.26.12.201, supnet mask is 255.0.0.0 and default gateway is 63.26.12.201 and for the ethernet NIC adapter addy is 00-50-fc-2a-f5-ba ip addy is 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0... for the other computer.. the PPP adapter...

i'm so confused.. some say take out the tcp/ip, some people say take out other.. and what is the frame type??

to find the IP address... do i go to start run winipcfg and read it off the ethernet adapter ip address?? or is there a way i can set my own?
