My try to put Vega FE against Titan X into prospective: I used the numbers from GamersNexus and PCPerspective benchmarks (@ stock settings). However, this chart is showing all benchmarks of GN and PCP :

Regarding the possible driver issues. Is it possible that AMD put the vast majority of its coder into the ROCm development (link to German article about it) so they get it ready for Radeon Instinct? So my theory is that they left the driver development alone when they had a working but...

I agree, your naming scheme sounds better but then you would have the problem with the three 12 core CPUs. You would end up with 1960X, 1960 and then something like 1960X+ when the third number is always equal to 1/2 the cores.
