Personally, I'd never buy generic in times like this where good quality RAM is so cheap. Just not worth the risk to save a couple of extra dollars. Never happened to me, but I've heard way too many horror stories about generic ram fouling up.

I generally prefer Netscape since I believe Microsoft is evil. =) But I downloaded Netscape 6 and hated it -- it was incredibly slow! I quickly got rid of it and am still using 4.7. Works fine for me. The only problem I have is that a lot of web sites are optimised for IE.
