    Seagate 7200.11, especially 1.5TB

Can you open up a SMART monitoring tool like Crystal Mark (http://crystalmark.info/?lang=en) and see if they still have the seek errors and read errors? I'd love to see that go away.

    Seagate 7200.11, especially 1.5TB

I'm familiar with the firmware issues, but the issues I'm speaking of have actually been around since the 7200.10 series, and maybe earlier. I don't have any more 7200.8's or 7200.9's to look at. The issue can only really be seen in the SMART data for the drives. If you look at it with any...

    Seagate 7200.11, especially 1.5TB

Hey everyone, After having another Seagate 1.5TB drive begin to develop bad sectors, making all but one out of a dozen or so that turned out defective within weeks, I wanted to check in and see if anyone else has noticed this issue. Rather than re-post the whole thing, I'll just point you...

The *Official* MSI K8NGM2-FID GeForce 6150 Motherboard Thread

I haven't run 5308 on this board yet. I'm waiting to get a copy of the 64-bit version, since the 32-bit one has given me tons of trouble on my "Baby Thor." I did run the Dec. CTP on it, and it performed fairly well, minus no support for Aero Glass. nVidia's newest driver for 5308 may enable that.

The *Official* MSI K8NGM2-FID GeForce 6150 Motherboard Thread

Spread spectrum tries to help with problems with electromagnetic interference or something to that effect. You can find more about it on the wikipedia or other reference. It's generally accepted by overclockers that when maxing out the bus spread spectrum on the CPU can make for a lower...

The *Official* MSI K8NGM2-FID GeForce 6150 Motherboard Thread

After playing around a bit more, it looks like Spread Spectrum was the culprit. I hadn't turned that setting off yet. From what you were saying earlier, just by setting the multi would increase the voltage, right? I've been doing that all along, with the memory set to 2.7v. I'm going to run...

The *Official* MSI K8NGM2-FID GeForce 6150 Motherboard Thread

So I apologize in advance if I've skipped the answer to all of my questions so far, but I've got a couple of issues with this board. I've sold probably 10 machines that are pretty stock setups, but I have a friend who has one and I'm trying to tweak it out. First off, in your first post you...

A different shootout ATI vs NVidia (open minds!)

How about the more important things besides just raw FPS? Power consumption on the x1900's is ridiculous for one. ATI has better DVD De-interlacing with AVIVO, and also has hardware accelerated H.264. nVidia has better drivers, with a less clumsy interface, IMHO. Not a fan of the CCC.

DVI, HDMI, 1080i, Gaming and nVidia SLI

The problem seems to stem from how the drivers pick up the HDMI interface. Under HDTV Modes, there are none listed, however the resolution slider works fine and overscan compensation works like a charm. I have set the resolution slider to 1280x720 and used the overscan compensation to dial it...

    More Rumours of G71 & G80

Here's my little take: The 7900GT and GTX cards will out-perform anything ATI has, especially in SLI. We've seen X-fire to be a pretty substancial mis-fire, while SLI has evolved quite nicely. G80 should ship out a month or two before Vista, there's no point in shipping it earlier when...

DVI, HDMI, 1080i, Gaming and nVidia SLI

OK, I decided to try and work this issue out with nVidia before bringing it public, but the canned "We don't support our products" line has forced me out. Here's the deal: I've been running HDTV on my Sony 21" CRT for over a year now over firewire from my cable box. I was not happy with a)...
