    The future of PC gaming

true, there seems to have been a decline in both quality and innovation recently - and some horrible ports for PC. I think it's probably down to the generation change - publishers want to milk franchises at any cost. Arkham Origins, NFS, BF4, CoD etc.

    The future of PC gaming

I think choice would be good. My only concern is whether the market will be too fragmented; i.e. there will be too many platforms for each game. The long term solution is clearly to have cross-platform play using open standards. Portal 2 between PS3 and PC worked brilliantly - no lag, no...

    The future of PC gaming

Just curious as to what people think will happen to PCs in the future. Microsoft don't seem to acknowledge the existence of gaming on custom-built PCs. If you go on the Windows website their definition of a PC is just tablets - they don't even acknowledge the existence of laptops, let alone...

    The value of elitism

The thing is, a lot of PC gamers say consoles limit the advancement of games because the hardware is outdated even before they launch. I think that's a vast overexaggeration of the reality. If you look at games like GTA San Andreas and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 they are far superior both in...

Interesting... you mean because of how Steam has changed things?

    The value of elitism

As a life-long PC gamer, I have never really thought about comparing PC and console games until a few years ago. I know this is a topic which has been debated many times, but I've never fully understood one thing: Why do many PC gamers see console gaming as unviable? My first console was the...

This might seem weird but I WANT to want an Xbox One, but can't justify it.

So you're saying that MS forced it on people because once they try it, they will enjoy using it? What about space requirements, not wanting to wake others up in your house by shouting at your TV etc.? Then the Xbone is not for me?

i am in complete agreement. Console gamers want physical copies even at a higher cost due to tradition i suppose. But the way Microsoft put it across, it all seemed very dodgy. I for one don't even know why the Xbox One has a BD drive! All digital would have been great IF it was like Steam...

Valve hates Microsoft, we know that. But MS doesn't care about PC gamers. They could have competed with Steam if they really tried and updated GFWL. But it's evident that their gaming division is solely focused on Xbox, and when all these game engines and code libraries are built around...

Nobody can deny that Windows and DirectX offer the best tools for PC gaming. But it wouldn't surprise me if MS were to pull off a dick move with this. They'll find a way.

A lot less would have bought it. That's why. I don't LITERALLY mean nobody.

You make a good point. But Valve promote multi-platform games. SteamOS is basically to persuade people away from Microsoft's API to open source, but tbh that's not a bad thing. Microsoft abuses its market power far more imo
