The swiftech killer has been released

760gms is way over the 300gm max weight. I hope the socket stays attached to the board.

what is the best heatsink for an athlon

Weight does matter. Unless the cooler attaches to the board itself, I would not use a cooler that is well beyond the 300gm limit. A heavy copper cooler (e.g. 400 - 800gm) is going be a big problem if it is just attached to the socket.

    Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

I noticed that taisol has the big bad voodoo daddy for sale now. Expensive and loud, but is it any good? I assume using the forged heat sink from the CGK742092 with a 36 CFM fan would be hella cool, but is it worth it and how loud is it?

    Socket A HSF Advice

Hey, I went to the taisol store and they have some new fan&heat sink part, but it doesn't allow you to buy it. Anyone know where I can get the taisol "big bad voodoo daddy"? I am not sure if it is a joke or if that is the real name.

    Ppl who just bought Durons...

I wish someone would review/compare the taisol parts against the alpha, orb, etc. I think the fricken taisol cek733092 (something like $12 online) is price/performance best thing out there. If you want overkill try the cek734092 (I do not even know if it will fit 60x80mm I think).

    Tbird thermal pads???

Leave the pads on the chip. They are there to provide a stable surface for the heat sink (i.e. anti-rocking). The die requires complete contact with the heat sink surface ( rocking = fried chip). I do not know about the Alpha, but approved thermal solutions take into consideration the pads...

    any suggestion for duron cooler?

I do not know if there are any direct comparisons between the Alpha and Taisol. But for price & performance the Taisol CEK733092 is best.
