UCBPride, I think the problem exists with 686-b south bridge motherboards. I bought AE for my pc (IWILL KK-266R), and that card pops and cracks, but when I switch it to a BX board with win2k, it hardly pops and cracks (only when I am doing a lot of work that stresses out the CPU)

Sure enough, PC just crashed because it reached temperture of 123F (this is the reading AFTER pc crash and boot to BIOS). Guess i'll need a new HSF.

read the faq provided here, they provide a few solution to your problem. It was mentioned before, SB live cards have issues with 686b. There are a few fixes now, read NSF4's post (use search)
