    CPU recommendation for Matlab/Solid Edge

    The budget is for an Athlon 64 or Pentium IV system, 1 gig ram, 1 cpu. So nothing fancy, just regular hardware. Matlab is just about matrix algebra, Solid Edge is a 3D techical drawing environment (comparable to autocad).

    For my studies I work alot with Matlab and Solid Edge. Which CPU delivers the best performance in these two programmes? Athlon 64 or Pentium IV? Since I cannot find any usefull tests on the internet I hope you guys can help me out (y) Thx!
