OK, I just downloaded and installed MS Hotfix KB835221, then reinstalled the Realtek HD Audio drivers. Everything works perfectly now! Thanks for the help!
I have an MSI Neo2-FR motherboard and have the EXACT same problem as you. What did you finally do to get the Realtek onboard HD audio to be recognzied in XP SP3??

I have been searching for others with similar problems to mine and I think it is an issue with XP SP3 not recognizing the Realtek hardware correctly.
Anyone have any idea how I can get SP3 to recognize the device properly? Any patch, etc??
It is enabled in the BIOS. I just downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of Realtek's HD Audio drivers (1.85), no luck.
I am running WinXP Pro SP3, if that makes any difference.
BTW - It overclocks real nice and stable. Pushed it up to 4GHz for a while (Prime95 load temps went to 58C max), but brought it back to stock until I get these issues figured out.
This board arrived 2 days ago along with a retail e8400. I have been loading everything onto this new system and testing it the past 2 days.
For the life of me I can't get the computer to recognize the onboard audio! It does not come up in Device Manager or in the Sounds/Audio Devices in...

If I am running Win XP will it recognize all 4GB of memory?? I am coming from an overclocked Dell 9300 laptop and the recognizable RAM is limited to ~3.2GB; is it the same for desktops...
