It has something to do with MS Messenger. Look here for tips on tweaking. I disabled Messenger and had the same problem. Now, it's only slow the first time (not 15 seconds by a long shot), but not as slow as before the tweak!

At stock speed I can run mine on 1.725 volts (MBM reading in my tray fluctuates between 1.71 & 1.73) and play any game with no problems. Setting it higher than 1.8 volts (MBM shows 1.78) for overclocking doesn't help mine at all.
The purpose of unlocking the multiplier is to LOWER it and RAISE the front side bus. The faster your front side bus is going compared to the same speed the cpu is going is going to make your system faster. In other words, a front side bus of 166 and a cpu speed of 1,533 is going to give you a...
This is just a guess, but I'm thinking your cpu doesn't like the fact you've set the multiplier HIGHER than default. LOWER your multiplier equal to or less than default and raise your front side bus to gain more cpu speed.
If your led's aren't working at all it's because they're connected backwards. For the uninitiated, led means Light Emitting Diode and a diode only allows current to flow in one direction. Try reversing their connections. You set the jumper on the main board for 133mhz bus speed only if you...
From www.overclockers.com this heading says it all:
The PIV Celeron - Why everyone should just say no, and why anyone saying anything else is doing you no favors.
And here's the link to the article itself: (copy and paste, I can't finger out the html s... :)...
This is kinda hard to explain, but I recently read an article about a fan for a cpu heatsink that was ducted. In other words, the blade assembly was on one side of an extra thick fan-housing assembly with the air-flow diverting vanes in the middle and the exhaust side was open creating sort of...
Good choice. I had a Radeon 8500 and it was not the card I thought it was going to be considering the hardware. ATI's drivers are written by school children I think. I have the Gainward Golden Sample Ti200 128meg and it runs 240/501 with no problems. Just a tick slower than a Ti500, but a...
I couldn't get any drivers installed when I first got my Ti200. I have a VIA chipset mother board and the fix was to get the latest 4in1 driver set. XP only wants the 4in1 '.inf' file, but that fixed it for me. Try it if your system has a VIA chipset.
Can you give any more details? Pause as in completely stops drawing frames or just slows way down? I have a Gainward Ti200 128meg card and it doesn't do that. I had a Radeon 8500 which did that in Serious Sam 2 (would slow way down to single digit frame rates) and it was a hardware bug which...
I have the Gainward Golden Sample 128meg Ti200 with the slower (than the 64meg cards) 4ns ram. I started overclocking it the second day I had it. It will run 240/501 without any problems. Any faster for the ram and I get sparklies and any faster for the gpu I get random lockups. Serious Sam...
