    DDR2 Compatibility Question

Cerb, Thanks for responding, that makes sense. I'm running Win7 64bit and the ram that is in there is a mix from what came originally (2x512) plus the other stuff I had laying around. I'll try looking at Crucial and Kingston.

    DDR2 Compatibility Question

I have an old Dell that is running DDR2 with 3GB PC5300 ram (2x512 + 2x1GB). I searched a bit on Newegg as well as ebay trying not to spend too much because after a certain point it would just make sense to dump and upgrade everything. Anyway, I saw this on ebay...

Animal, Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it! I meant to say my son's old computer already has the coolmax in it, and I was just thinking of swapping it out since he isn't using it anymore. At any rate, I'll look into the Antec Earthwatts to find out what specs make a decent power...

Hang on Verifying DMI Data Pool

I bought a Maxtor 200GB drive. I searched on the net to make sure my mobo, Abit AS8 would would support the drives over 137GB (OK , it does). So I went into BIOS, changed to boot from CD, and formatted the drive as a single 200GB partition. I shut down, made it a slave, reattached my old HD as...

USB Drive - FAT32 or NTFS?

All, Thanks for your advice! I think I'll format my newer larger drive for backup for around the house in NTFS, and keep one or two of the smaller ones in FAT32 for the occasional other stuff. Great advice and words of experience. :-)

USB Drive - FAT32 or NTFS?

I just started gathering up my old HDs to use for file backups. I am running WinXP Home SP2, and have a generic external IDE to USB cable to connect my IDE HDs via USB. I thought I should reformat my old HDs to NTFS instead of the old FAT32, but I have seen some web articles saying that WinXP...
