    Dumb eVGA 680i SLI question

I'm trying to find the 3-pin connector on the mobo to monitor the power supply fan. There are a number of 3-pin connectors that just say "fan" but I can't see anything specific. Can anyone tell me which one is which? I have the cpu and chipset fans plugged in already.

    Do you go without protection

Or you can just right-click and scan it before you run it and never have to wonder. I got that virus in '98 from a game a friend sent me. I thought it was safe, but little did I know.

    Do you go without protection

Yeah, a Compaq 400MHz PII with a 20GB HD and a 4MB ATI Rage video card. Oh, and a 100MB zip drive, ha. I upgraded to a 16MB Voodoo3 a year later and thought I was a badass. Half-Life never looked so good.

    Pictures of your computer's inside?

I want to see a pic of that. Do you have it running? I guess it would stay cool but be loud as hell?

    Do you go without protection

I'm using Kaspersky AV 6.0, and it seems to work well without being a resource hog. It got rated the best AV I think. I use Spyware Doctor every now and then but won't let it run in the background. Kaspersky seems fine running in the background. I got the Chernobyl trojan or whatever it was back...

3DMark06 Score Jump and OC Questions

I went to the eVGA site and downloaded their updated 8800GTX bios and 680i SLI bios. The temp/voltage thing is an nVidia program that came on the motherboard driver disk. I think it was called nMonitor. Originally, I had an Athlon 64 3200+, an ATI Radeon X800XL 256MB PCI-e, and 1GB ram. My...

3DMark06 Score Jump and OC Questions

One night I had a score of 8422 on the newly built machine in my sig, and the next night I got a 10,067 after doing nothing more than updating the motherboard bios/driver and video card bios. This screenshot shows the results and my voltages and temps right after the test. I've never overclocked...

    3DMark06 Disappointment with New System

Last night I got a 3DMark06 score of 8422. Tonight, I went to the eVGA site and downloaded BIOS updates for the 680i SLI and 8800GTX and a 680i SLI driver update that I hadn't previously gotten. That's ALL I did, and now I'm getting a score of 10,067. The FPS were much better too. I'll never...

    3DMark06 Disappointment with New System

Do I really need to get a new PSU? If I get one, I'd get one over 800W and with four 12V rails in case I want to SLI two 8800GTX's. My current PSU only has 2.

Novel idea. I might have to try that sometime.

    3DMark06 Disappointment with New System

It's just one 8800GTX. I got the SLI board in case I want to get another one when the price goes down. I'm going to update the mobo and video card bios when I get home. Hopefully, that will help. Before I OC anything, I want to see what I can get out of the stock settings.

    3DMark06 Disappointment with New System

See my sig for my new system's specs. I put it all together yesterday, installed XP with all updates, installed latest nVidia video driver and Creative sound driver, installed motherboard utilities, and installed 3DMark06. I started up the test and went to bed. In the morning, I saw that I got a...

Go with it or the regular Raptor?

There's the Raptor X with a 16MB cache and a regular Raptor with the same cache, both 150GB and 10K RPM. Newegg says the seek/read times are all the same. The Raptor X is only $10 more, but I'm seeing reviews saying it's loud. Which do I get?

Do I upgrade my sound card?

I'm about to upgrade my system, and I was wondering if I should even bother upgrading my regular Audigy 2 (non-ZS). Is there really any noticable difference? I have 500W 5.1 Logitech Z-680 speakers. Thanks.

    Just installed an nVidia 8800GTX

No, I haven't OC'd anything. I've seen enough people doing it on here that I'll be confident enough to do it with the next cpu I get. I know a guy who recently got a E6600 Core 2 Duo and says he OC'd it from 2.6 to 3.6 Ghz with an after-market cooler.
