Need help with choosing parts for my new build

They're all the same price. Then there's also the AsRock Z170 PRO4 (non-S version) with large heat sinks and whatnot. I don't know how important they are though.

Need help with choosing parts for my new build

Hey guys, I'm thinking of going micro ATX, but I'm not good at judging motherboards. Is the GIGABYTE Z170M-D3H as good as the GIGABYTE Z170-HD3P? And how do they compare to the ASROCK Z170M PRO4S / ASROCK Z170 PRO4S? Which one would you rather have? As for the monitor, I can return it in 30...

Need help with choosing parts for my new build

So I updated the components a bit based on your advice, guys. Unfortunately, I can't get that Zalman ZM600-LX for the price I listed above where I'm shopping. It costs €55 and that puts right next to the Corsair VS550, Fortron Hyper 600 and Fractal Design Design Essence 600W. These are my...

Need help with choosing parts for my new build

But 500W won't be enough for a high-end GPU, will it? Not sure about the case either. What are the advantages of a bottom mounted PSU? For a little more, I can have the Zalman Z1 Midi Tower or the Thermaltake VL80001W2ZD V3 Black Edition which I like a lot because it has holes everywhere for...

OK, point taken. How powerful should the PSU be for this build anyway? And what do you think of the CPU+mobo+memory setup? Would you consider waiting for Skylake Xeons as a cheap way to get a quad-core with HT?

Need help with choosing parts for my new build

Hello again and thanks for your replies! I did not forget, I just forgot to list it. For the same money, I can have the SCYTHE Katana 4 or the Zalman CNPS10X Performa, both of which performed better than the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ EVO in the tests I read. I will overclock the CPU as soon as...

Need help with choosing parts for my new build

This is what I've come up with so far: MB: GIGABYTE Z170-HD3P (€123) CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K (€265) CPU COOLER: SCYTHE Ninja 3 Rev. B (€43) RAM: undecided, either 2x Kingston 8GB DDR4 2666MHz CL15 HyperX Fury Black Series (€115) GPU: Old GPU for now, high-end 14/16nm...

Cheap 3TB Toshiba HDD - is there a catch?

This Toshiba 3TB, 3,5", 7200rpm, 64MB, SATA, DT01ACA300 is around 40% less expensive than the other choices I have in my area. Is it inferior in some way compared to the WD and Seagate HDD's that people usually use in their builds? What should I look for when purchasing a HDD?

    AMD Carrizo Pre-release thread

When Skylake comes out for mobile, I'm personally going to see to it that this thread gets flooded with comparisons.

    AMD Carrizo Pre-release thread

Has someone actually tested them or are you just guessing? While there are no 37W Broadwell i5's and i7's, there are Haswell ones and I'm pretty sure they will make a comeback with Skylake. Who told you Lenovo isn't also working on an intel+Nvidia version? Why intel+Nvidia? Intel's iGPUs...

    AMD Carrizo Pre-release thread

I don't understand why there is this obsession with high TDP Carrizos. Just get something with the i7-5750 or better. It'll destroy the 35W FX-8800P in every way. When AMD said the Carrizo performed best at 15W, they actually meant that 15W is where it is somewhat competitive. At 35W and...

    AMD Carrizo Pre-release thread

I don't know. According to that NBC review, the CPU performance only seems to be on par with the Broadwell i3's and the GPU performance with i7's, so you can't say they're lying when they they claim it competes with low power i5's. I'm a bit worried about battery life, however. Those 3 hours...
