because almost all g5's cannot do 112 bus. the cache can do 103 maybe. Some of the latest g5's can do 112 but only the very latest. Thats how i can say that it is likely the cause.

its the cache, it cannot handle the 112mhz bus. you could try and get an intermediate bus using programs such as cpucool or softfsb.

are you sure that the motherboard supports cxt core. The fact that it boots at 6X means nothing because it is detwermined by the cpu, not the motherboard. Perhaps there are a few k6-2 optimisations not being used because the bios has some dificulty identifying the chip. Goto amdzone forums...

be carefull on k6-3+. They do not work in all motherboards - check out amdzone forum for a list of possible working motherboards. My k6-3+ 450 does 560 without increasing the voltage. I suspect if i wanted it to that it would do 600 (at least) and maybe as much as 672 (112 bus and lucky).

i am currently running on one of the non existent k6-3+ cpu's. I just got a k6-3+ 450 which i have overclocked to 550 and i have not even increased the voltage. Perhaps the cost analysis depends on where you are - here in australia a k6-3+ cpu goes for 171.5$. 650 duron about the same plus...
