Sand the area around hole with fine grit sandpaper and use flux, solder won't stick to a dirty surface.

    Smart control of gate lighting?

This looks like it would work in your scenario without too much fuss, you would need a smart hub to control it though, it is not a standalone product like Wemo. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YTCZZF0?th=1

    Smart control of gate lighting?

The Wemo switch should work well for you then, it would require re-wiring as they are designed for inside use to have something like a lamp plugged into them.

    Smart control of gate lighting?

You shouldn't have too much trouble then as long as you could place the smart hub near that area. The range of Z-wave devices is supposed to be 100m. How are the lights controlled, do you have a switch for them? Most of the z-wave switches are designed for more interactive situations, in-wall...

    Smart control of gate lighting?

How far is the gate from your home? I have a SmartThings hub and some devices that I have been very happy with.

Electrical timer that does duty cycling?

They're a little pricey, but a Belkin Wemo smart switch could do this. You can create time based on/off rules with the smartphone control app.

    RC boats

FWIW, I found that I liked to have a few more moderate chargers than to have 1 super capacity charger. I like being able to charge multiple batteries at once without having to worry about using a parallel board. I second the hobby king suggestion, they have some decent chargers at a good price...

    RC boats

I like my HPI Savage XS, it's a blast. I bought the kit and built mine. It's small and fast when paired with a 3s lipo. It's 4WD so it's good for off-road but it's also got enough power to tear around on road when you get the speed bug.

    RC boats

I like the proboat stuff, Ive owned three of them myself. If you're worried about tipping, you can get the recoil 17, it's a self righting model. Though, you'll be hard pressed to tip it, I turn as hard as I can full throttle and the thing doesn't flip. It's a little small tho, not sure if you...

    ISO Electronics Guru

I'm not an electronics guru, but this seems like a job for a cheapo ebay DC-DC converter (aka buck/boost converter). Seeing as the toy runs off of two batteries it should be running on very low current so the buck/boost converter should have no trouble in this application.

    PS4 Cloud Saves question

Is anyone here familiar with how the PS4 cloud save feature works across multiple ps4 systems? I have my own PS4 but I regularly play games at a friends house on his PS4 as well. I impulse bought a PS+ subscription while I was logged into my friends PS4. I can see all of my cloud saves from...

What's the most cash you ever had on you?

Cash transactions of $10,000 or more require a bank to fill out and file a Currency Transaction Report for the transaction. The questions were to get information to aid the filing of that report. You could have avoided the questions, and been much safer, by drawing a cashiers check from one bank...

    Raspberry Pi/Raspbmc youtoube addon

I just got a raspberry pi and installed RaspBMC on it. So far it has been simple to use. I got a wireless adapter and FLIRC receiver for it. Got those two items up and running no problems. I hooked up the iOS xmbc remote app to control it from my phone. I saw/read there is a Youtube addon for...
