    HOT? Cool looking Micro-ATX case for $39 + shipping

    The In Win micro ATX case is available from PC Club for $39 this week. Linkified Checked it out at their local B&M outlet -- quality seemed pretty good, up to the usual In Win standards.

    ~~~~ Rebate Tracking Thread ~~~~
    Denied $50 CrapUSA rebate for All-In-Wonder Radeon deal from January. Rebate center claims only the PCI AIW was covered even though circular and store displays clearly indicated that the AGP AIW was eligible for the rebate too. But they goofed -- I still have time to dispute the charge with my...
    ~~~~ Rebate Tracking Thread ~~~~

    Recently received a $10 BB/MS rebate for Intellimouse Optical (early January) and a $20 Cendyne/OfficeMax 16x10x40 CDRW rebate (late December). The Cendyne rebate was a pleasant surprise as I'd read too many negative comments about their previous fulfillment contractor. Anyone else waiting for...

    Keyboard w/ fingerprint scanner $16.99 @ Directron!

    Linkified Something for the "just-gotta-have-it" crowd -- a Keytronic 104-key PS/2 keyboard with built-in fingerprint scanner. I doubt it's much use without software (about $70 from identix.com) but $16.99 ain't too bad for the keyboard alone.

    IBM Netfinity 5100 server $699 (stripped) at Tiger

    Linkified Details from IBM This is a dual Slot 1 server, ServerWorks III LE chipset, UltraSCSI2 LVD, barebones with no HD, a single P3/866 and 128 MB of what I assume is registered ECC SDRAM, stuffed into what looks like a 5U case. No OS but it does come with Lotus Domino and a few other...

    It'll support FSB speeds up to 200 MHz in 4-5 MHz increments according to the Anandtech review: Review Reminds me of my family's old Dodge Monaco with the speedometer that went up to 150 mph.

    Compusa Deal

    I think the guts of the SMC, D-Link, Asante, Linksys, et al are all OEM from the same third-party manufacturer. See this guide: practicallynetworked.com I didn't find any info on the Siemens but it looks almost identical to the 3COM router which was also sourced from the same OEM.

    STATUS: ALL UP Newegg Refurb Video Cards

    Good and the bad about Newegg.com refurbs: From Newegg.com: << Refurbished Items >> << Refurbished products are products that contain components that have been owned by other clients and returned to NewEgg.com ... >> On the plus side, when the refurb ATI card I bought from Newegg...

    Newegg special -- Chieftech DX cases (Antec 1030SX equivalent) $69 +ship - W/ PSU!

    Axiontech.com has the Antec SX800 w/o PSU for $55.95. Good deal for those of us with power supplies coming out of our ears. Ground shipping was about $21 to CA. (Boy, do I miss those free Outpost.com air freight deals!) Linkified

    Hot? AIW Radeon $129.99 at CompUSA after mir

    P.S. The CompUSA cashier offered me the purchase protection plan for ~ $20 but I declined as a reflex. Got to thinking later -- the plan promises a free upgrade to an equivalent product if the item you purchased is no longer available ... Maybe that $20 could have swung a free upgrade to a...

    Hot? AIW Radeon $129.99 at CompUSA after mir

    I noticed the same inconsistency in the rebate coupons. I called CompUSA customer service and the rep told me the rebate would be honored for the AGP version as well. I had two ATI / CompUSA rebates denied last year for the $60 PCI AIW128 deal, but an e-mail to ATI got me the checks within two...

    Refurbished 4 port ethernet hub 9.99

    Probably the best 10BT 4-port hub I've ever used (used to run my home LAN on it, still run three computers off one in my cubicle at work.) Granted it's still a 10Base-T hub, so at $9.99 refurbished it's warm, not red hot. If you have a cable/DSL router like the Linksys, D-Link, etc. you can use...
