Damn you man, don't rain on my parade!
Actually, I completely agree. While I find my module useful and cool, it's simply a public interface to existing functionality on the SunRocket site, and hardly something revolutionary I could sell, (with the possible exception of a PayPal "Donate"...
It occurs to me now that I could make this a hosted service so that you wouldn't need to install *anything* or even *have* a web server. There are security and maintenance issues I would need to resolve but it could be done. Basically I would create a secure web form that you visit and supply...
Thanks. If you have access to a *NIX box (Mac OS X, Linux, BSD, etc.) the installation is easy. Windows installation is a bit harder since it doesn't come with Perl or make installed by default
I can write up some better documentation in the next week or so if there's any demand.
Possibly of interest to some of this thread's readers:
I have just finished a Perl module that is an interface to the "ClickToCall" functionality on the SunRocket web site. This allows you easily initiate phone calls to others though software.
I'm going to use it with a FileMaker contact...
Nice looking case for my secondary desktop.
I live in Burbank, CA, a few miles from their warehouse. UPS ground shipping was $8.88. With CA tax it was just under $30 shipped. Bump.
BTW, they also have the Linksys WRT54G, a great Linux powered hackable router for $55 before a $15 MIR...
SunRocket appears down for me, the first time in a few months (that I've noticed anyway.) Incoming calls get the fast busy and don't forward to either my cell or voicemail.
I rebooted the gadget, my (downstream) Linksys router, and my DSL modem for good measure. (All are on a common X10...
Ok, it's driving me crazy. I have been scouring BBReports, here, and the entire web for months trying to find SunRocket's SIP settings to allow me to use the service from a softphone, and haven't found them yet. I've even called SunRocket a few times, since I'vce heard they will sometimes...
Geeks.com often has refurb sets for cheap. None of that specific model at the moment, but they have them fairly often and for extra cheap during their Green Light specials.
It's also worth mentioning these are *nice* and expandable phones. Tiny, great speaker phone, walkie-talkie features, etc. I like them so much, I've bought a few sets (from geeks.com when they have the refurb sets) for friends and family.
Furthermore, SunRocket keeps getting better. A perfect...
The Sunrocket SIP proxy may be 67.133.234.125.
Also, a customer service rep I talked to today (researcing SIP settings) confirmed that 7 digit dialing is coming soon. As a matter of fact, she claimed that the software upgrade that was supposed to enable this is partly what caused the recent...
Just logged into the SunRocket site (researching using a SIP-baed softphone with SunRocket's service) and noticed that my account was given an additional 10 rewards points as of Sep 15 2005. So either someone I have mentioned Sunrocket to has finally signed up but not told me yet, or it's a...
