Possibly not,the MSI/AMD64 combos seem to not like most power supplies that supply less than 20 amps to the 12 volt rail. Many users encountering startup problems have found the solution in bigger power supplies, you might want to pickup a bigger PSU before you begin the build.
BTW, if I came off sounding as though I didn't want to hear any bad experiences you people have had with MSI boards, I apologize. All I'm looking for here is something a bit more substantial so I can learn something from this thread other than that some people haven't had problems, and some have.
Jesus, thin skin much?
As I've stated twice before, I'd LOVE to see what you guys are talking about. Do you think I see myself as some sort of computer guru trying to tell you all how things really are? This is the FIRST computer I've ever built from the ground up, and I'm simply sharing my...
My point is: draw what you will from this thread (as I already stated).
I'd like to somehow quantify the notion that MSI is having a "lot" more problems than any other board manufacturer, but you're not giving me enough to go on. I post regurlarly at the MSI HQ forums, and while I see plenty...
Look, all I'm saying is this thread seems a bit ridiculous. Green caps instead of black... have any of you ever worked for a manufacturing company? I do, and I'll tell you that during inital product rollout, it's not uncommon to run into some supply shortages and have to revert to alternate...
This forum is starting to scare me. Is the normal way of things for people to just throw comments out like this and not have to explain themselves at all?
My K8N Neo2 is looks EXACTLY like that of the Anandtech review and Newegg's product shots. MOSFETs are black too. Would someone like to...
Let's remember two things before rendering final judgement:
1) This is a brand new board running a brand new chipset with many unique features, insofar as motherboard construction goes. The AMD64 chips are also going through rapid growing pains in the form of different cores, different...
I'm very happy with my MSI board, and I've had no problems other than the CPU temp reporting issue (which has been fixed in the latest BIOS update). XP SP2 also didn't give me any problems at all, don't know what happened to the other guy's install.
I get a 9661 with bone stock settings on my X800 Pro, so your score might be slightly off the mark, but it's in the ballpark of normal X800 Pro performance. I've overclocked mine as high as 540mhz/1.1ghz and gotten a touch over 11000.
