    Pick the best overclock

Well, this might just be a moot point. I'm getting serious stability problems at anything other than 250FSB. This is even with some pretty high voltages. 2.80 Vmem and 1.65 Vcore. Thanks for the advice though. I'll see what I can do further.

    Pick the best overclock

Once again, it's time to play everyone's favorite game, pick the overclock. Let me know which one you guys think is best. Here's my equipment. K8N Neo2 Platinum with 1.4 BIOS 2x512MB OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum Rev. 2 Thermalright XP-120 Heatsink w/ Enermax 120mm fan Athlon64 3200+ 90nm...

    Overclocking onboard LAN on nForce3

Yeah, it's set to that. My question was, since the NIC is integrated into the chipset, does overclocking the FSB overclock the chipset, and the NIC along with it. For reference, my FSB is 250 with a 4x HT multiplier.

    Overclocking onboard LAN on nForce3

If I overclock the FSB on an nForce3 Ultra, does the onboard Gigabit LAN also get overclocked, and if so, is it stable to overclock it?

Just what is the HyperTransport bus

Ok, with my new AMD system I'm a little confused. I understand that HyperTransport is the point-to-point bus that allows all of the components to talk to each other. What I don't understand are the speeds of all of the pieces. Can someone explain, or point me to an article that explains how FSB...

Pick the best Overclock for my winchester 3200+

I'd have to go with B. The missing ~150Mhz on the CPU is most likely made up for with the faster RAM and HT bus.

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

I also use both IDE ports, there is no problem. My problem was the fact that the IDE, floppy and power connectors should never have been put that close together. There is one capacitor just below the socket close to the AGP slot that hits one of the heatpipes, but it's not an extreme bend...

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

No, the metal plate that comes with the motherboard stays. What you replace is the plastic piece on the front side. Yeah, it comes with the plastic piece.

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

Sorry, I don't have a digital camera, so no pics. But, I will tell you my experiences. The XP-120 requires a seperate retention module. The instructions that came with the cooler suggested that I might have to use acetone to remove the old retention module, but luckily I didn't. The new...

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

Hey, thanks a lot man. I'll have to read through that. Never even heard of XtremeSystems.

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

Well, you two were absolutely right. I was able to get the system stable at 250 by moving the hard drives to ports 3 and 4. Thanks a lot for the tip. Still kinda weird though. Is it because the first 2 ports aren't integrated into the chipset, or is it because they are and the 3rd and 4th arent...

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

I doubt that the problem is the memory. I state this because Anandtech got the exact same memory on the exact same motherboard up to 290 using the same timings I'm using. 250 is fine with me. No, I didn't know that. I'll have to give moving them a shot. Any references that say it doesn't...

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

Well, with the suggestion of changing the HT multiplier, I was able to get up to 235Mhz FSB. Thanks for that suggestion. Here's my next problem. I was able to POST as high as 250, but Windows won't boot at all at that speed. At 240 Windows almost boots, but the whole thing repeatadly freezes. I...

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

Well, about that, when I try to bring up the HT multiplier menu the BIOS screen locks up. Any clues?

Dissapointing overclock of 90nm 3200+ on Neo2 Platinum

Ok, I bought this system specifically to overclock. After some initial problems in which I had to put new thermal paste on the chipset heatsink I am finally able to overclock this system. Here's the problem, I'm only getting up to a FSB of 220Mhz. Anything higher than that and it fails to POST...
