Premiere is Windows only and I have used it on quite a few low spec machines and it runs fine. You can edit DV footage without having to go high end and spending big bucks. Get 2GB of ram as suggested and a core 2 duo and you should be sorted.
I personally am goning to get a macbook pro only...
Have found a wierd crash every so often and found this morning i could replicate it by playing mpegs in Windows media player (also happens in premier and After effects sometimes) - after a few seconds the screens turn off computer seizes and the sound skips on the spot for a while. I then need...
sorry bout that screwy link damned colons :(
the memtest seamed to act as a burn in and windows loaded fine with the 2 sticks after!
flashed bios after and it all is working ok
my computer/properties is showing 2GB but CPU-Z is showing 16384 MB
nearly there!
Hi thanks for all the advice,
found a floppy and ran memtest86+ for 11 hours last night and at stock speeds RAM 200Mhz:
on 15 passes it found 19 errors all during test 8. not sure what this means? faulty goods?
as for the voltage I tried changing it in the bios but when I change it up...
Had no floppy and am salvaging one tonight so should be able to memtest.
will look at the voltage thanks, wasn't sure what it should be!
haven't flashed the bios yet, as im working away on it with 1 stick and was afraid of disasters. the bios I have is jan 2005 and it supports the san diego...
Help!
My RAM: 2x1GB low latency
Just did my first build and system works fine with one RAM stick in slot 2 (the first orange one) but when I put the second in slot 4 (matching orange for dual) it will start up but crash when barely above idle with a BSOD - "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". happens...
I just ordered a pair of low latency patriots for Photoshop and After Effects work
they are CAS 2 if you are interested. Haven't tested them out yet but could be worth a look as they are cheaper that the OCZ and Corsairs
2 Gb Patriots
Thanks! will go 3500+
as for the RAM can't find that OCZ here (Ireland) but found :
Corsair XMS - DDR TwinX
2GB (2x1GB), DDR400, 2x128Mx64, non-ECC, 2x184 DIMM, unbuffered, 2-3-3-6, Silver H/S, L/T Warranty
in the UK, am I on the right track?
I was gonna buy a small 80GB for system and 200GB for storage but have seen it mentioned that the outside of a 200GB is faster. Does anyone have any links to a tutorial on partitioning and setting up the perfect drives?
Would i be right in thinking for photoshop and video editing you could...
great! thanks for the advice. doing my first build and dont want to get stuck with mismatched parts.
hows this then?
MSI K8N NEo 4 ULTRA
2Gb DDR PC3200 GeIL Value CAS3 Dual Channel kit
so which processor 3200+ or 3500+ winchester?
want to build for use with Photoshop, premiere pro and After effects. Never overclocked before and want to make sure i dont regret a purchase.
I see lots of guides for 2x512 of specialist RAM but how about 2x1GB modules? On what MOBO? (currently looking at the MSI K8N NEo 4 ULTRA)
have used both the matrox parhelia and a Nvidia quadro4 900 XGL in work PCs and they are excelent indeed but are pricey and take an age to order in. As i want to put this pc together in a week or two I didn't want to get stuck waiting for a specialised part that may in fact be overkill. Hoping...
Thanks for that, the ultra board and seasonic PSU look like the plan!
If graphics programs are CPU based - would i be best of going for the
3500+ or the 3200+ the overclock ceiling looks similar on both.
memory something like:
- 2Gb DDR PC3200 OCZ Performance Dual Channel kit -...
Work with fast p4s and dual-xeons (crazy noise) and want to build my first quiet rig to bring work home to.
This machine is not for gaming but for Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro and Flash MX so I have trouble working out the kit for me as most of the reviews are geared towards gamers...
