It ended up being the power supply. Once i replaced it, everything worked fine... I am still not quiet sure how its possible to burn out a power supply with static electricity.. I thought these things are grounded through the power cord. anyways.. thanks for the help guys... its smooth sailing...

I did enable the cd rom as first in boot order, i also tried it as the only boot device.. still no go... It is a master in its chanel IDE-1 thanks for the link to the utility, ill try that tonight and hopefully it will work.
