I tried to fix a win98 box. the NIC is working fine, getting IP (using DHCP, and all the default setting for other network settings) from cable router fine. but I cant get online, getting the Page Cannot be displayed message. I updated the NIC driver, removed/reinstalled tcp/ip, but no luck...

I remembered I heard someone said adding NetBUEI to XP and ME solves the problem that ME cant see the XP box. I am not 100% sure though, as I never used XP. also, did you check both the NTFS and Sharing pemissions?
