    Recycle old computers at staples 2/17 - 2/18 for $20 off $100 in-store

Well I didn't have any problems dropping off my 286 Hyundai PC with CGA monitor (yes that's from the same company that makes cars). You're suppose to use the coupon today, but the manager said they'd honor it anytime (made him write it on the back of the coupon). Didn't buy anything either.

Deals Dead: Siemens 2-Port DSL/Cable Router at CompUSA $29.99 aft.MIR

Have you either cloned your MAC address from the network card that was previously attached to the cable modem (not sure if this router supports that), or have you given your cable provider the new MAC address of the router?

Does anyone know why it is cheaper to purchase from a company online that to get it at their store.

You've pretty much answered your own question. Most stores are connected with a large distributor, and keep very little hardware in inventory. Because the price of hardware falls so quickly, the quicker you can turn around and sell something, the bigger the profit. Thus if you have a large...

Can I route my cable connection through a hub?

The netgears currently run about $90-$100 (was going for $50 with rebate a month ago). You can also get the SMC barricade routers for $60 after $40 or $50 rebate - currently at J and R. Stay away from Linksys routers - lots of firmware problems.

Best router for sharing net connection with a Cable modem?

I recommend either the Netgear RT314 or the SMC Barricade line. I've heard a lot of bad things about Linksys' firmware. Head over to the forums of DSLreports.com DSLreports.com. There's usually a lot of comparisons there. If you consider yourself technical and like to tinker then get the...

Walmart In store Firewire deal, $15.

I hate the Brockton Walmart - slowest checkout lines ever - feels like Christmas all year long :). But if there's any packages left, it may be worth it.

    HomeFree Home Networking Kit - 10Mbps, $20!

wyvrn - Chances are the phone company didn't use twisted pair - why pay extra for higher quality cable? Time to get out the old crimper. In addition, 10/100Base-T uses a star topology, not a bus like HPNA. goog4 - yes HPNA 2.0 cards are backwards compatible. But if you have one 1Mbps device...

    HomeFree Home Networking Kit - 10Mbps, $20!

slipperyslope - I think the DSL filters will interfere with HPNA devices because it's filtering out non-DSL frequencies on the phone line, which is what the HPNA devices use. Maybe someone on the networking forum can verify.

warm and fuzzy Linksys Wireless NIC PM and Coupon $80 at Staples or Office Depot (starts 6/24)

FYI - if this is the 1st generation Linksys card, which it looks like it is, the range is only 2/3 the range of most other wireless pccards. I have it and a 1st gen compaq card, they both use the same chipset diff antenna. Linksys signal isn't as strong - drops off 1st. Also seen people...

    Hollywood Plus Questions

I've been noticing over at the For Sale board that a lot of people are asking about the H+ revision #. What features do you get/lose with the different revs? Can't seem to find anything on the web about it.
