T-Force 550 SE Audio Not Working

I just got an Open Box BioStar T-Force 550 SE from NewEgg (a replacement for an old T-Force 550 that I accidentally destroyed by knocking off a capacitor). All seems to be working with the exception of the onboard audio. I just want to use headphones for the moment (which work when plugged...

    Fixing a broken capacitor?

Thanks SerpentRoyal. Do the caps have a polarity, and if so, how can I tell? (I don't have access to the board and will be asking a family member to do the work, so I want to make sure I have all the info up front.)

    Fixing a broken capacitor?

I was removing the video card from my Biostar T-Force 550 and knocked off one the capacitors. Unfortunately, the board is out of warranty (just over a year) and in any case it looks like such damage wouldn't be covered. Is it possible to simply resolder the capacitor on, and if so, does it...

    Thanks, just figured that out.

Kingston 1GB DataTraveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive $5.95

It's coming up $15.95 for me -- $34.95 - $19. Is there another rebate around?

Installing XP x64 Trial on a TForce 550

OK, I got it to work by enabling ACPI. Stupid disingenuous error message -- if it had meant ACPI it should have said ACPI, not APIC!!! Grrr!

    5.1 Component Switch?

The real reason: I needed some cheap internal cabling and the shipping was going to come to twice what the cable were (ignore the fact that I later found the same cables from a different place for even less with less shipping, oh well), so I poked around in their clearance section and got those...

    5.1 Component Switch?

Quick update -- I got my 5.1 setup today, and fortunately it has separate "in"s for C/L/R/LS/RS/S, which means I can just hook them in via standard RCA splitter cables to my DTT2500 and just turn off the second set of speakers when using the computer. Now I just need to figure out how to keep...

    SCSI HDD detected but inaccessible

Alzan, those were great suggestions. I also found some others on a Storagereview.com thread. Unfortunately, when I plugged the AHA-2940UW back in and attached the HDD, it started to make jet engine noises as it spun up, and now no matter what I do the HDD LED stays lit and it keeps spinning...

Installing XP x64 Trial on a TForce 550

I downloaded the XP x64 Trial for experimentation on my Athlon X2 w/ Biostar TForce 550 mobo. Everytime I try to start the x64 install from the CD, it pops up a message about APIC not being detected and to enable it in the BIOS. I'm using the 6/15/06 BIOS (this site has newer ones but I don't...

    SCSI HDD detected but inaccessible

I actually had the ASPI driver installed and alas it made no difference to Windows. Do you have an idea of a copy utility that could bypass Windows's refusal to issue a drive letter? I'll try the ID trick tomorrow. Not sure why it would work, but hey, who knows, right?

    SCSI HDD detected but inaccessible

Yep, I've set it both to terminate (as it's the only device on the chain) and to provide term power. I can't really diagnose this, because I don't have an external terminator nor another UW device to plug into the SCSI bus that it's on.

    5.1 Component Switch?

The thing I'd like to keep is the Digital DIN connection between my SB Live! and the DTT2500, because I also have another system I'd like to connect to the analog line-in port on the DTT2500. (Although I suppose if I follow your suggestion I can just plug the S/PDIF into the DTT2500 for _all_...

    SCSI HDD detected but inaccessible

Unfortunately, SCSI cables are quite expensive and I only have 1 UW cable at the moment. I might be able to test it a relative's SCSI system and see what happens, I was just wondreing if anyone had any experience with something like this and potentially some (free as in beer) software...

    5.1 Component Switch?

Ah, that's _very_ helpful, thank you. Unfortunately, I have an original Soundblaster Live! which isn't able to do hardware DD5.1 decoding. (Side question: Were the soundcard able to do onboard digital decoding, would there be any requirement on the 5.1 speaker end, or the single analog...
