Negative. The Coaxial adapter is just an RCA plug, and you can use just a regular long RCA cable to connect it as well. Nothing needs to be "coaxial" about anything. All you need is the adapter I described above, and a single male - male RCA cord and it will work.

You don't need an adapter sold by creative to use that port. You need a male mono 3.5mm headphone to *1* female RCA adapter. Something like this: http://www.mycableshop.com/sku/251-200.htm You can buy it at Radio Shack, but the employees will most likely be no help to you find it...
