Hmm.... maybe it's because the store you mentioned has the cards priced for an unreasonably low 3.55, but the shipping is a ridiculous 17.90.... making a 1Gb card about what the market rate is, $20.
Just a guess. :disgust:
Naw, I'm sure you can o/c this card to at least 250/250.... my 250/250 goes to 280/320. What Im' saying though, is you can't compare this Radeon 8500 64mb against other OEM directly, since it's not the same -- just wanted to point out the lower clock speed.

I don't know why this was locked.... no explanation. Anyways, reposting in case locking was an accident.
You can use this link to get out of the cursed Doubleclick!
Sounds pretty good, but it's clock speed is rated pretty low... this must be one of those "powered by ATI" cards, since it's clock speed is only 230mhz... normally it's 275, oem is 250.... this is the lowest clock speed I've ever seen.
Sure, why not... That's what Steve did! It would be nice if Steve would simply follow his own words of wisdom, and stop wasting Anandtech bandwidth. You DID say that, did you not Steve?
I've been reading some of these posts, and I'm wondering why this thread is so long, when it's clear that most of the discussion has lost relevance. To sum up the points I've heard...
Steve:
I think overclocking the 1600 is dumb, because there are a lot of other parts that you need to buy...
Most of what you're saying is true... I agree everything except of the chip temperature being lower than system. Because you're violating a low of thermodynamics... you're saying that the heat would be flowing from the system TO the chip then! Since the chip obviously produces more heat than...
Sorry guy, you must have your MBM5 setup wrong. Make sure you select the proper sensors and chipset for your motherboard, because there is no way that your cpu is running only 2 degrees higher than ambient. If it is, it's because your temperature thermocouple for the cpu isn't touching the...
I got in on a Radeon 8500 64mb oem... it looked ghetto when it arrived, because the packaging was already opened, and I was kind of nervous. However, I stuck it in and powered it on, and after about 5 minutes of playing with it, I overclocked it to 275/310 (cpu/memory) and it was rock solid...
Pretty hilarious...
I was just about to order it (thinking thinking thinking) when suddenly someone else bought it, and I got left with nothing. Oh well, you snooze, you lose... =)
Um, maybe you haven't noticed how overweight the average American is... I'm thinking, better to put Parka's on 90% of the people, rather than encourage them to take off MORE clothing!
Has anyone used this ram on a ECS K7S5a board? It says, not guaranteed to work with SiS 735 chipset... does that mean it WON'T work, or does that mean, it "might" not work?
