I have an 80/20 music/games listening profile and had been using Altec Lansing MX5021's for the past few years. Admittedly, the AL's were an absolute pleasure to listen to ... save for a mild hiss audible in quiet surroundings that was a minor bother at best. So, after reading raves about the...
Denithor, those are some excellent deals indeed. Thanks for the pointers! Here we have an 8800GT and an HD3870 separated by just $4 ... but isn't the 8800GT one complete step above the 3870 in the performance food chain? If I don't have the performance pegged wrong, how can this pricing be? ...
Thanks for the excellent pointers guys! Indeed, it looks like the 3850 is a winner.
I should mention that I'm a bit of a noise freak (as-in *quiet* components only). My current X1900XT is rigged with an aftermarket Arctic Cooling cooler for cool, silent operation. While the 3870 for a few...
Even though I have a 1900x1200 screen, I do most of my gaming at 1680x1050 with medium eyecandy on my X1900XT. I use XP Pro, so no DX10 gaming. Will a move up to 3850 improve my fps and/or allow me to move up to 1900x1200?
In general, do you guys think its worth the upgrade? Much thanks for...
Folks;
I'm at wit's end trying to figure this one out. I just went from an X850XT to a 1900XT, both on Cat 6.3's ... for some reason the 1900 refuses to switch to non-standard (i.e. anything other than 6x4, 8x6, 10x7, 12x10, 16x12 & 19x12) resolution ... on desktop, or during gaming. If I...
folks, i'm upgrading my winchester to a dual core (opteron 170) and was hoping to find a way to keep my current os config and not have to go through a full XP reinstall ... anybody with any experience here? ... for example, after upgrading to the appropriate bios, will:
- just dropping in...
Phew, can you verify Arctic Cooling's claim about the cooling solution w/ your XL? Are you not hearing any clicking, or have you had to resort to a 100% setting (which somewhat negates the silent-at-idle objective).
cheers.
For those who've already got theirs, how is the noise on this cooler? Do you hear 'clicking' ... which I've read is due to the cooler's ceramic bearing reacting poorly to the card's PWM fanspeed-control signal.
Now that the Ati Silencer 5 is finally available stateside, has anyone picked it up? I've heard that the fan, while quieter than stock, makes an annoying 'clicking' sound (especially at low rpm's) rendering this cooler an ineffective low noise option.
Can anyone using this Silencer please...
