If you don't really need the upgrade now, but want to do it anyways, then going the new mobo/cpu route will be better long term like I said before. And like you pointed out, the depreciation on the GF3 will be more rapid than the depreciation on the motherboard and CPU. But whichever way you go...

Depends what your needs are mate. If you are upgrading soley because you aren't satisfied with your 3D/gaming performance of your current setup, then the GF3 will help you out more. However, for most other things I think changing the cpu/mobo and maybe ram/ps will give you more of a boost. But...

What are mode-2 CD's? I don't think its the CD's themselves, its the same CD's that used to read a LOT faster before my system upgrade. Nick

I got a new KT7A, Duron, 256MB PC133 RAM and I'm using a Compaq DVD-ROM GD2000 (made by Hitachi I think).
