    http://ltp.sourceforge.net/ I just found this last night. I ran it for 8 hours and my computer failed 588 of 800 tests It looks like the longer you run it, the more you fail. For 5 minutes my computer only failed 80

    did you pay for your current OS?

    I used to pirate almost all my software (I di buy WinXP though). Then I discovered Linux, and realised typing emerge gimp was alot easier, and more legitimate than spending hours in a mirc queue. Now I am 100% legit :D

    I use kwrite for editing, kdevelop for programming, and konquerer for file-browsing. thats it

    Is there any way to make X 'feel' faster?

    Personally the biggest reason why I can't stand to use mandrake is because I find that it runs like a hog. Alot of ram is a must for X. I have 640 but 256 is fine. Once you get below 192 X slows to a crawl.

    About to install Linux, got a few questions

    512 mb for redhat 7.3 should be fine. I don't believe that Redhat 7.3 can see NTFS partitions by default (someone correct me on this?) and it may require you to recompile your kernel, which is actually a (relativly) painless procedure.

    Kernel: Vanilla 2.4.21 Distro: Gentoo I have been using linux for ~1.5 years. I moved from mandrake, to redhat, to suse, to debian, to slackware, then finally found my home with gentoo :) For those of you who have tried the 2.5x kernels: How stable is it? I would like to play around with it...
