I wanted to post this problem here in case anyone has fixed it.
I have two drives on my secondary ide port: DVD player (Master) and a CD-RW (Secondary). The DVD player is a pioneer 16x and the CD-RW is a plextor 12/10/32A. The problem is after I set up my new system, everything was fine for...
I just built a new system with an is7 and I have the same problem. CD-RW was there for 15-20 reboots, and now it's gone. Shows up in bios, but not in XP.

I just purchased new computer parts and a new case for them. The case has a front and rear fan. The rear fan is always an exhaut fan, but what about the front fan? The last computer I built didn't specify which way it should go (exhaust or intake).
TIA,

So as soon as I reinstall, I find the answer to my file access problem...

I hope someone else someday finds this useful.
Thank Microsoft for hiding the access rights tool in safe mode of Windows XP Home.
Update:
I sort of fixed problem 2. I reinstalled IE but that didn't help. The only thing I could think of was reinstalling microsoft intellipoint software because it allows you go "back" in IE with a mouse click (which at the time didn't work either). I went uninstall intellipoint, but it...
Maybe I'm just not in the know, but where does the permissions stuff exist in Win XP HOME? I know what you are talking about in Win2k Pro, but I have seen anything like this in Windows XP...where is it?
Thanks,

1) I recently had to reinstall Windows XP Home. When I did I made two main user accounts, both of which are Computer Administrators. If I install an application under one user account, the other user account can't find it. The icons for the program appear "blank" (empty windows with blue...
Yesterday I turned on my PC. It didn't boot...didn't do anything. Turned it off and on again. Booted up ok. I left it alone. An hour later, I went back to it. The hard drive light was frozen on and the screen was black like the video signal had gone away. I turned it off and on again, but...
I just purchased a Dell 120 gig 8 meg cache hard drive. I've never purchased a hard drive other than a retail drive, so I had a couple questions...
1) What does the drive come with? Does it come with an ATA100 capable cable and screws? How about a power supply splitter?
2) I plan to...
I decided to stop the fan temporarily, with a plastic stick. When I removed the stick, the fan started spinning again, quietly. So far so good. I guess maybe the fan was just a little off center or something? Better than replacing it for the time being...
Last week my power supply fan started making a horrendous noise. Can you replace these without buying a new power supply? If it dies, do I really need one on the power supply? There are two other case fans in my case.
TIA.
