Just to clarify, with these speakers, would I be able to directly plug in output from my NForce2 sound directly to the speakers w/o a receiver? When is a receiver required to output your PC to speakers? God knows, I need to stop using those horrible built-in speakers on my Planar LCD!

FWIW, I bought Cornea's analog 17" and I found the text blurry. Dunno if it were some compatability issue w/my video card but I could never resolve it w/clear type or anything else. Had Amazon pick it up and refund me and replaced it with the 19" Planar DVI Dell deal--much better text...

haha, my girlfriend lives right next to J&R. it's as credible a company to buy from as best buy/circuit city/etc. that said, their return policy is crap though--no refunds except for defect w/in 14 days.

FWIW, I'd recommending buying the camera at your local Sears and getting a pricematch to either Dell or some other merchant off of pricewatch/mysimon/etc. You'll get it locally (no shipping) + if you get the replacement plan, you can bring in your old camera and get it replaced w/the newer...

OT, but not really: From reading your posts Tret, you should really think hard about this enterprise (see Actaeon posts). If you're serious enough to want to pursue this idea, go to the bookstore and pick up a basic guide on how to start up a business. While saving a few dollars here or there...

If you plan on using the IGP as the video card, you should definitely get 2 memory sticks for the dual channel ram. otherwise, the performance would be quite underwhelming. there's a review of the IGP (either here at AT or at tomshardware.com) that basically says, to get decent IGP performance...

fyi, to see other ppl's diy rigs and commentary check out newegg. look right and scroll down and you'll see tons of wishlists for new rigs. ppl will rate the proposed rigs as well as offer substitutes. i've found reading about those setups as useful as read at forums.

After looking at Tom's VGA charts, it seems like the 4200s were still a better value than the 9500 Pro for comparable performance except for AA/AF (which is no big deal to me). I went with the Gainward Golden Sample 4200 128 mb. $140 shipped from Newegg.

No expert here, but what I've gleaned from other's comments is that you want your pc's volume to be low if your stereo's amplification is good. I.e., $100 soundcard vs. $500 receiver/amplifier w/lots of power. The logic is that the card has less power than the stereo thus increasing the volume...
