Assuming it's incompetence is incorrect. Medical hardware/software has a very limited target market/installed user base. When I say the hardware I'm using is incompatible with Windows 7, it's not that they're not working on fixing it--it's that it was designed for Windows XP 32 bit. I don't...
If you think I'm choosing Win XP because I want to, think again. I'm choosing XP because the hardware I _need_ to use for my profession is incompatible with Windows 7. The user base is so small, that the company that provides support will probably be supporting Windows 7 in the next ten years...
You are probably right about VM Ware... that being said, it's 190 and Windows 7 Pro is 150, so I'd just go with that. At this point, I'm trying to avoid paying any more money than I have to.
Actually I was just reading about Virtual Box... is it possible I could get by using this on Windows 7 Home instead of buying Windows Professional? Has anyone had any success with this?
My Acer Aspire 5740G-6979 came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit installed, but it was not compatible with a certain piece of software I absolutely need to use. So, I installed Windows XP and it did not work due to lack of driver support.
Now I am left with only one option--Windows 7...

That being said, it still won't work because the support for two monitors is nonexistent and I can't figure out how to get the sound to work. I...
I bought this Acer Aspire 5740G-6979 laptop thinking it would be great, and it actually is amazing. One problem-the reason I bought it was for one type of hardware which does not like to work in Windows 7 64 bit. So instead of plunking down an extra 150 dollars for 64 bit Pro, I decided to pull...
Fardringle: That worked! I'm amazed that ASUS made me go through this much work... they could have simply put the driver on their website and stated that it was not supported. I just love the fact that I bought a new computer only to have to install XP on it because it didn't come with Windows...
I just installed Windows XP on the Aspire 5740G-6979 and I'm totallly unable to find the XP drivers for the Atheros AR928X wireless adapter on ASUS's website, even though apparently they've been created (See http://www.atheros.cz/) This seems VERY odd to me. Why would they not provide a link to...
