I figured it out! The problem was I've been updating the BIOS in Windows using AsusUpdate. This time I went to 1006 using AWDFLASH in DOS and that really cleaned out the BIOS, and now my setting stick! THank goodness. It seems the windows utility isn't doing a good job of updating. Anyways...

OK... Here's a follow up to my experiments... the inability to overclock does not depend on the OS. So, it's a BIOS issue I think. I tried MacOS and Linux, and neither held the overclock settings in the BIOS. Any ideas?

Sorry, fixed! I meant the Asus A8N-E... Leave it to the mobo manufacturers to come up with a8n, an8, k8n, etc to confuse us! :)

Hey guys. I've been working with a new A8N-E Rev. 2 with the X2 4200+. I can't get this thing to overclock from the BIOS. It's strange, I set a higher clock, back down the memory and HT bus for safety, and boost the voltage a bit to the processor. Also, I locked the PCI and PCIe busses at 33...

Ditto that here... I think something's weird... the BIOS knows it's overclocking, but when windows loads up, it goes back to normal speed... Can't figure it out. I'm using a a8n-e bios 1006 with an Athlon X2 4200+... Guess I can try AI Booster, but I'd prefer to use the BIOS. Ed

On the Olevia, black is only decent looking head on... if you move 30 degrees or more off center, it will wash out a lot from the backlighting.

It should be a good deal... The board is an ECS 755-A2, which AT reviewed quite well. I've not had problems with the ECS boards I get from Fry's. Then again, I am not overclocking terribly much, or doing any weird stuff. I jumped on the $75 Sempron 2400+ with an ECS KT600 board, and it works...
