How quiet is this drive in comparison, say, to the Seagate Barracuda series? I have an older Maxtor 10GB 5400 rpm drive and it is significantly louder than my Seagate Barracuda 80GB drive.

I was having problems with memory errors and such running Windows 2000 after receiving my Asus MB I reinstalled everything in the order posted above and the system is now running error free. Good advice. Thanks.

I wouldn't be so sure about the chip being a dud. I found I could crank out much higher fsb frequencies on older Abit KR7-A than on a brand new Asus A7N8X deluxe running the exact same ram and 2100+ Tbred chip. Have no idea why... Maybe you could try the chip on a different system.
