    ICQ & WinXP

I have the latest version of ICQ installed on my XP box. My wife and I use the computer under separate accounts. ICQ, however, loads up the same ICQ user regardless of who is logged on. Is there a way around this?

    Sampling sounds from DVDs

Is there an easy way to sample certain sounds from a DVD? Specifically, I'd like to just save sound clips from movies. I have a DVD-ROM drive and PowerDVD. I know I can rip the whole audio track to a wave file and do it that way, but I would hope that there is an easier way. Ideas? Thanks!

What a Crime!!! Teachers should get paid more money!!!!

Want more salary as a teacher? Get rid of the damn union and collective bargaining. The NEA is what holds salaries down for many good, hard working, dedicated teachers by eliminating merit pay and protecting lazy, incompetent teachers. I honestly believe that eliminating the NEA and its...

    Attention, bodybuilders: cheap whey protein!

While we're talking about this stuff, my wife bought me some Power Blocks for christmas. They're great, but they only go up to 45 lbs each. There is an expansion pack that puts them up to 60. Anyone know of a good place online to buy the expansion pack?

    dvd..is it that good?

Personally, I would stay away from the slot load Pioneer DVD drives. I had two (one 6x IDE, one 6x SCSI) that developed problems quickly. My Toshiba has worked flawlessly. No idea on Sony or Asus.

    Whoot! I'm getting a gun--a 10/22!

I love shooting .22s. You can still buy a brick for close to $10, and there is no recoil (not that I'm scared of kick!) to speak of. The only thing I don't like about the 10/22 (and this also applies to Ruger's Mk.II .22 handguns) is that the clip is a pain in the ass to load. I dunno who...

Can Anyone Recommend a Hand-Held GPS Device?

I prefer the Garmin models. I've tried one of the low-end Magellans and I thought it was junk. I think Garmin gives you more bang for your buck. No idea on models, except I know the Garmin GPS-12 is an older but very capable model that can be had for around $100 or so.

If Your Cig Smoke Bothers Neighbors: $750 Fine

Maryland is a police state, and it's amazing the difference in attitudes between there and Pennsylvania. Of course, their roads are better. Personally, any amount of cigarette smoke really bothers me, so while on one hand I like the idea of having a remedy if your neighbor bothers you for it...

Any big regrets looking back on your life?

I'm 27, and with one major exception I regret going to law school. The amount of debt I am carrying because of school is obsene, and I refuse to work the 80+ hours/week that high paying firms demand of their associates. The one exception about going to law school? I met my wife there. :-)

What was your FIRST COMPUTER and how much did it cost?...we've come a long way.

Commodore 64 with a 1541 Disk Drive attached to an old RCA XL-100 TV. Christmas 1983. I was 9. I still love the Commodore. I imagine my parents paid close to $600 for the computer and drive. A couple of years ago I started getting into classic computers and picked up a C64 and drive from...

    Sanford & Son

They said and did stuff on that show that networks today wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole -- instead of tackling race issues, today's shows would rather throw in more sex. A little trivia -- Isaac Hayes, of the Shaft theme fame and the voice of Chef on South Park, wrote the S&S theme...

Need a NYC restaurant for first anniversary dinner

My wife and I are driving into NYC tonight and tomorrow we want to celebrate our first anniversary at a nice restaurant. Any suggestions? Neither of us is a very adventurous eater, so a place that serves American cuisine or "americanized" foreign cuisine is probably ideal. We are looking to...
