Which HSF for Opteron 165 on Ultra-D?

After checking out some heatsink roundups, I think I'm going to go with a Scythe Ninja Plus. With the included 120mm fan, it seems to perform notisably better than the 7000cu while also being fairly quiet (which is always nice).

    s939 X2 3800 and Opteron 165 overclockability

Thanks Gronich. From your sig, it looks like the XP90 performs pretty similarly to the Zalman 7000 I have (both 92mm fans). Have you ever considered upgrading your cooling, or are you happy as is? I only have one HSF between 2 rigs so I need another anyway. I like the Zalman, good and quiet...

Which HSF for Opteron 165 on Ultra-D?

Tweakin, I tested up to 344HTT when I got the Neo2, and could still get into XP, except I'd get cold boot issues. I'd happily stop at 333 or so, which I think the board will do without to much trouble. As to the processor, I wouldn't know since I haven't tried to push it that far because of...

Which HSF for Opteron 165 on Ultra-D?

Would I see a major improvement going from a Zalman 7000cu to one of the newer tower/heatpipe model heatsinks? I idle around 32C and load in the mid 50s (setup in sig). I'd like to try clocking a bit higher, but heat is holding me back. I'm trying to decide between the Scythe Ninja+ Rev.B...

    s939 X2 3800 and Opteron 165 overclockability

CheesePoofs, I'd highly recommend the Opteron 165 if you plan to overclock. I have one on a Neo2 Platinum @ 2.8Ghz, 1.45v. I plan to move to the same DFI board you have for PCIe shortly, just need a new HSF to go with. A bit OT, does anyone know what HSF would be a good upgrade from a Zalman...

I would like some opinions on upgrade.

I'm sort of in your position where upgrading is concerned, rcomo (specs in sig). IMO, if you're planning to watercool anyway, a modest OC (say, 2.4 or 2.6, if you can) would keep your CPU from holding back that new video card too badly. I wouldn't worry to much about bottlenecks (or dual...

***Official*** OCZ Support Thread part 2

I may have spoken too soon about heat not being a problem. To test, I used memtest86+ V1.6 (5 passes of tests #5 and #8 for quick stability, and then loop all tests overnight if those settings work out.) Individually, each 1gb dimm loops test #5 @251mhz without erroring, but together, 2-4...

Thanks SteveOCZ! I'll memtest and prime with the settings above. Please let me know if the changes I made (bold in the quotes) will negatively affect anything.

***Official*** OCZ Support Thread part 2

Hello, Can anyone help me with memory timings for 2GB OCZ PC4000 on an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum? I haven't been able to find anything at the BleedingEdge forums (perhaps because the Neo2 Plat is a last-gen NF3 chipset) or by googling it. The model# is OCZ5002048ELGE-K. Right now I have...
