I have a Media Center 2005 box with a MSI 6600GT hooked up to my Samsung DLP over a DVI cable. Video is beautiful! But as for the WMV-HD patch from Microsoft... it works... but not very well in 16:9 mode. I've done a serise of tests with the patch from Microsoft to enable the DXVA for WMV-HD...

I decided to change the title per your suggestion... because your right, it's not just purevideo... it's any card that has DXVA abilities. No kidding about Microsoft... could you take any longer... :P

supposedly... the 6800 GT nor any of the 6800 series except for the PCI-express version of the 6800 (non-GT and Ultra) and 6800-SE will work with the WMV-HD decoding per nVidia's page.... Only the 6600 and 6200 series will support the WMV-HD hardware decoding...

After many months of waiting, Microsoft DXVA patch for Windows Media Player 10 is now out!!! This should enable all those purevideo capabilities that nVidia has been talking about FOR A YEAR now! Time to do some testing with WMP10 now...

Well this is very interesting. I found this news announcement at X-bit labs. It was posted on the 22nd of Dec. and I looked back through this post and no one has mentioned it yet... so I thought I would. I don't know if I would put that much stock into it... but here's hoping...

I got the same thing when I tried the codec out with a keygen or pirated key. I ended up purchasing one and the problem went away. I think nVidia has some sort of online verification for the codec because the codec would install fine and the first time use would be fine but the second time use...

Currently I feel pretty damaged by this. I bought my 6800GT specifically for great gaming and WMV9-HD decoding on my Home Theater PC hooked up to my HDTV. Now the gaming is still wonderful... but that doesn't change the fact that I feel very damaged by the #2 feature on my list that I wanted...

Hmmmm.... these drivers are navtive only to the Series 6 GPUs (6200-6800). Has anyone tried these yet? Somehow... I doubt these will be our magic drivers but here's hoping! :) Someone try these and see!
