The 3850 is a 55nm GPU. You might figure out a way to get the thing to crank out 190 watts on it's own, but but the magic smoke would certainly be unleashed.
Actually from what I've read the 3850 uses 35w idle and 95w full load. That Anandtech article showing 190 watts would have to be the entire tower. If the Acer in question has a 65w brisbane cpu in it, then I think it will work just fine. Probably wouldn't wanna push it much farther though. Nice...
Dunno what it could be for sure, but I had a customer with the exact same prob on this "all in one" desktop with a 17 lcd. Turned out the cold cathode leads coming off the power inverter went dry solder and it had a bad connection. Soldered it back together better and it stayed on.
On another...
Hi.. Mostly a lurker here but I noticed something strange with my Chaintech VNF4 ultra.
Anyone else with this board notice that there seems to be a "hole" in regards to the voltages? From 1.4 to 1.45 I can adjust, but between 1.475 and 1.55 my bios still reports 1.45v. It doesn't change from...
No clue....The only thing I can say is to try the pin mod trick. My MB was the other way around. No multipliers at all in the bios so I was stuck at 6x. I had to grab a rear window defogger repair kit and short the certain CPU pins to get the multiplier I wanted (12.5x). It was pretty easy to...
So far so good. I'm trying to keep the voltage down to 1.7v to have a more realistic overclock. So far, the 2400+m is still at 2400MHz. Good enough for me and I want to be able to easily/cheaply duplicate a similar setup for other machines. I've only had one hang up in several days of constant...
Thanx for the input. Got the nuts up, and went to the local auto parts store to pick up a rear window defogger repair kit for $12. Basically a little bottle of conductive paint and a brush. Shook it up and used the end of a small paper clip to put the stuff between the pins. let it dry for a...
Thank you very much for the replies. I got the 2400+M chip, and as expected, it's running 6x. Got it running 1200 MHz for now. Not a big deal since I don't have any new games, but I'd exentually like to crank it up to a decent number. If I can get the nuts up, I might try to "hardwire" the...
Thanx in advance for answering my newb question. Looked around and haven't seen ay info that fully answers this question.....
I have a Leadtek WinFast K7nCR18D Mainboard. Early Nforce2 board. It has no multiplier adjustment in the bios. I have an opportunity to sell my 2500+ and thought I'd try...
