I'm having a similar problem on the same MB. I havn't tried the PCI card fix, but doesn't anyone else see this as insane? A top of the line chipset from Nvidia that's used on dozens of motherboards doesn't do USB2 without freezing everything in sight?
There just has to be a better answer...
Slowing my USB down to 1.1 on a modern motherboard seems like a really crazy thing to have to do.. I know that I for one use a number of USB2 peripherals from time to time.. If it's a driver thing, Nvidia really need to get on that.
Anyone else?
I'm going to try forcing it to 2T and 166MHz and bump up the ram voltage a notch and see if that helps.
phanna- I had my last box which was a 2.6GHz P4-northwood at 3.2 and optical and 2 hard drives including one raptor, and a bunch of other stuff running on a 300W Seasonic, so I don't think...
I'd say that was a good plan, but I've tried reinstalls a number of times.. and this is on multiple similar but not identical machines.
I remember reading something about the nvidia IDE driver being a nightmare.. is that still the case? or the RAID driver maybe?
Hello Everybody.
I've built two machines on this MB in the past month. Both with:
X2-3800 -stock speed and voltage (temps sit in the high 30's with a zalman 7000)
Powercolor X700 video
Seasonic 380W ps
Antec P180 case
BenQ 1640 DVD
One of them used 2-WD SE16 250GB drives in...
I personally also like the built in drive controllers on intel chipsets. I've had problems with 3rd party RAID chips and let's not forget the Nvidia IDE driver waiting game.
A64's are very nice... however:
A) Not everyone here is into games.
B) a P4 northwood overclocked comes at a pretty nice price.
c) I've built dozens of systems with all different configurations, and an Intel processor with an Intel chipset has alway given me the least problems. Usually they...
I'm running a 2.0a P4 and it's for a lot of tracks and effects.. I've recorded 40 track records at 20bit/44.1kHz. I'm a Sony Vegas fan for multitracking.. and Waves plug-ins
While I argee with myocardia about a good sound card.. I highly recommend you go pro for something like that...
the multiplier will be locked. so you have to do it with the FSB.
Just make sure you lock the PCI and AGP busses
A lot of people use the stock HSF, but I recommend the Zalman 7000 series.
you can try overclocking the ram with the cpu.. but if it can't take it. just set the Ram to a 4:5...
I would pump the FSB up to 250 with a 5/4 memory multiplier, so that you're not o/c'ing the RAM.
That should take you to 3.25Ghz and has been accomplished by a lot of people pretty easily.
Just make sure you lock the PCI and AGP busses to 33 and 66 respectively.
If you have trouble with 250...
Hmm.. that's not good.
Anybody have any recommendations? I'm using a Lian-Li PC-60 right now.. and it's fine, I'm just looking for something even more solid and open front to back.
Anyone seen the coolermaster atc-410 available anywhere?
I'm looking for something high end, all metal, and G5 like so I can get air going straight through. ;-P
