Being a PC gamer I prefer western developed games. Rather then Mario I grew up with the likes of Alley Cat and Kings Quest. It's hard to pin point what makes Japanese developed games less appealing in most cases but the lack of a proper save function, fixed camera angles and linear game design...
There is just so much competition in the shooter market. With Crysis, Orange Box, COD 4, Quake Wars, Bioshock, Gears of War and others being released recently the shooter fanbase can pick and choose. The speed of UT3 may not appeal to some or maybe people think it's too similar to the previous...
The 8600 isn't bad considering the price. I'm thinking of getting one myself. Your only going to be able to play Crysis at medium settings with it but anything else will run well.
