As an update, I just got a NH-U14S. Later on I will add another NF-A15 (sold out). This way I can even maintain my Trident X fins and there are some reviews placing it (dual fan) better than the NH-D14, mostly due to the NF-A15 and the new pipes.
I am happy with the purchase. In my opinion the...
Yeah, it works with only one fan, but then I think the N14 would be better. And I already have six fans on my case (2X top / 2X side panel / 1X front / 1X back). The two on top made a good difference (3-4ºC). I might take off the ones on the side panel (blows too much dust inside).
Ah, I misread your quote before. I thought you had 5mm to spare. It makes sense with the review of OC3D, when his low profile Vengeance 29mm makes the front fan a little bit higher than the middle one. It would not fit a 39mm RAM in a Carbide. Funnily enough, Noctua replied saying 32mm RAM is...
But this data is at odds with the FAQs, which states RAM up to 32mm. If they are measuring from the board it has to be RAM of 29mm (subtracted 3mm from the memory slot). I wrote them. I just expect they give me a response based on a real test bench.
If you have some 5mm to spare, there...
Thanks mate, I think so too. It might fit with not a millimeter to spare from the side panel :) But I am going to write to Noctua and ask if they are including or not the 5mm clearance the cooler gains after the install. I think not, because then the memory would have to have 28mm.
Noctua...
Hi guys, I need some help. I only have the option to choose in between these two CPU coolers in my country due to availability:
Noctua NH-D15 (I know it is better, the best of them all actually)
Dark Rock Pro 3
I will overclock an i7-3770K to 4.4Ghz or above. My Zalman 9900Nt is only properly...
How can you compare my old card with what they have today? You must be joking.
And from what I understand my card is way cooler than anything AMD had to offer back then, when they were already starting to be known as "hot" cards, which denotes lack of efficiency, a trend that seems to...
I am going to jump in the bandwagon for a bit because I have been awaiting the new AMD series with expectation, but I own a GTX 770 Lightning, and one thing I love about it is that the card is cold as a corpse. It draws more than 220W and I am OK with it, but I would love to have a GTX 980 that...
You might be wrong, perhaps, because this is new to me, but the motherboard specs say "Hyper Transport Bus 4800 MT/s" [2400Mhz]. Someone at the AMD forum said that this is a BIOS setup (some boards have the option to overclock it -- I am no overclocker) and that Gigabyte was supposed to release...
I know that the motherboard "supports" it. The question is that the board has the hyper transport bus running in 2400Mhz when the FX-6300 is natively 2600Mhz.
I know most people don't look into those things, but it is kind of strange to run a CPU in a board that is not "fully" compatible with...
Hi guys, I have a 970A-D3P motherboard with a FX-6300. I read that the HT of Vishera is 2600Mhz, but my motherboard specs says 2400Mhz (4800MT/s).
At the AMD forum someone said that the motherboard maker should provide a BIOS upgrade for 5800MT/s. Is that correct?
What are the consequences...
You gave me the links for the price of the MSI R9 280X Gaming Edition, which will cost U$ 380, while the GTX 770 Gaming Edition costs around U$ 399 since day one. If you make the math, it is 20 dollars difference. Just look for your own post.
Someone said here that the difference is U$ 140...
Considering that the R9 280X is exactly the same 7970GE and cost $ 20 dollars less than the GTX 770, which is an improvement of the GTX 680, I don't see a difference. I consider it again a matter of preference.
The GTX 770 is the replacement of the GTX 670, which was launched at $ 399 too, so, considering that it is a better tweaked GTX 680, which costed $ 499, I can't complain about the price at all. In fact, when it was launched I considered it a bargain.
270 Euros for the Radeon R9 280X Gaming edition is 380 dollars, very close to the 400 dollars of the GTX 770 Gaming edition, so I dont see where the big fuss is. In fact, it just reassured my decision even further.
So I appreciate if anyone can help me to solve the memory bus query.
