I have a spare j-micron based SSD. What to do with it??

you can use it for lots of stuff, anything really. as long as you aren't writing to it heavily all the time it will still work fine. it is still better than a hdd, yo0u can also use it in a laptop and get good mileage

Do i need astand alone raid card for this?

unless you are going for sequentials above 660 mb/s, which you wont get with that many devices anyway, ich10r will be more than adequate.

    QD in win7

ust wondering if you guys think that this is accurate: i have used this quite a bit, of course the disk queue number fluctuates. however, it rarely goes over one. unless i am benchmarking of course. howeve4r, i think that shows that it gives accurate numbers. when loading games, it...

Help me decide. Intel X-25 G2 160gb vs OCZ Vertex Turbo 120gb

it is not the point of downloading a torrent to an ssd, not specifically. it is the principle of the process. are you aware of how many writes that your system is dropping right now as you read this very post? your browser is writing files at a constant rate, not to include all of the other...

Help me decide. Intel X-25 G2 160gb vs OCZ Vertex Turbo 120gb

intel drives have an inherent problem with their writing. that is why the vertex toasts it, and by ALOT, in the heavy usage pattern. when you are writing at the same time the read speeds of the intel go into the tank. it is the only weakness of the intel drives, and a heavily documented one...

    Measuring Queue Depth

that is the best answer i have heard describing it. thanks . others have said that it is coded into the program what the QD is... and that explanation never really meshed with me. doesnt makes sense.

Converting a SATA port into eSATA

it will work. that is all esata is, a different connector on a sata port. ACHI is the way to go.

    Measuring Queue Depth

So how does the operating system assign the Queue Depth? does it change the Queue Depth according to I/O load? also, if the average is 1 to 2 QD, why in the SSD articles does the average use run at 6.09 for light workload, medium is 3.59 and heavy is 7.76? is the information in the article...

    Measuring Queue Depth

I am wondering if there is any reliable method of measuring queue depth within an operating system environment? i am using Win7 and i do not think that the operating system is measuring QD correctly, no matter what i use it does not go over two. i noticed within the anandtech SSD reviews he...
